Monitor energy useage at the RJR Ranch, Pullman, WA (N46 40.558 W117 16.276 Elev: 2352 ft.) Equipment list: Sixteen Kyocera KC-130 solar panels, pole mounted in four groups of four panels. SMA 2500U power inverter in grid-tie configuration. System startup: May 19, 2008

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Time connected to the grid: 15 hrs
Electricity produced: 7.4 kWH's
Solar Energy: 375 Langley's (A Langley is a unit of measurement for total solar radiation)
Utility meter reads: 2226
Weather: Overcast all day
Comment: I installed the fifth solar panel mounting post today. it is 48" deep in concrete, 18" in diameter, same as the others. This post will eventually have four more solar panels, making a total of twenty. For the next year, however, it will not be tied into the system, but will be used to test and develop a reliable and inexpensive sun tracking system.
